Our Story

A Heritage of Faith
Since 1911

Nestled along the rolling hills of Forsyth County, Longstreet Baptist Church has been a cornerstone of the Cumming community for over a century. Our story is one of God's faithfulness through every season of life.

Our History

Founded in 1911, Longstreet Baptist Church has been a faithful presence in the Cumming, Georgia community for over a century. What began as a small gathering of devoted families in the foothills of North Georgia has grown into a vibrant, multigenerational congregation.

Through the decades and the transformation of Cumming from a quiet rural community into a thriving home for families, Longstreet has remained steadfast in its mission: to glorify God, make disciples, and serve our neighbors with the love of Christ.

Today, we continue that legacyβ€”honoring the timeless truths of scripture while embracing the call to meet the needs of a changing world. We are proud of our roots and look forward to the work God still has ahead for Longstreet Baptist Church.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

Our Core Beliefs

We believe in the Bible as the complete and inspired Word of God, and that He sent His Son Jesus Christ so that all who place their trust in Him may receive forgiveness and spend eternity in His presence.

The Holy Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of Godβ€”our supreme guide in all matters of faith and practice.

God

We believe in one God, the wholy trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spiritβ€”holy, loving, and sovereign over all creation.

Salvation Through Christ

We believe that God, in His great love, sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life, die for our sins, and rise again. Through faith and trust in Him alone, we receive forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ, called to worship, grow together in the Word, and serve our neighbors in love.

Baptism

We believe in baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith and obedience following salvation.

Eternal Hope

We believe that all who place their trust in Jesus Christ will spend eternity with Him. This is the great hope that anchors and shapes how we live.
